Vegas isn't just for gamblers

Art by FAFI

My 2019 trip to Las Vegas was the last time I traveled on a plane before COVID took over our lives. The reason I ended up in Vegas is that my parents have a timeshare with Bluegreen Vacations, and one of the properties is in Vegas. It was also my birthday weekend, so how could I resist the generous offer of a free room. I stayed at Bluegreen Club 36, which is a beautiful resort right off the Strip. My one-bedroom villa was spacious, with all the bells and whistles.

I had no desire to gamble. Okay, that's a tiny white lie. I did give a few coins to the slot machines at the airport. Does that count? But, the only time I entered a casino was to use the restroom. The street art, weather, and breweries were all I needed for an excellent getaway. Oh yeah, and hanging with Pennywise at Fremont Street Experience on my actual birthday.

Welcomed with open arms

I follow Justkids on Instagram, and their posts had me giddy before I landed. Justkids is the perfect platform to follow if you are an artist or love art. The murals in Vegas are sizeable and eye-catching! They are also everywhere you look, but I didn't complain about getting a sore neck over it. Some of the murals were painted by world-renowned artists such as Belgium's ROA, England's DFace, and Italy's Pixel Pancho.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of addresses for the murals. Not to fear, though, as they can easily be found by walking around downtown and along Fremont Street. Could anyone even be opposed to walking in excellent weather amongst palm trees? During my strolls, my proudest achievement was the discovery of FOUR murals by DFace. He is one of my favorite street artists whose work is easily recognizable.

Let me start with his four murals and then continue with others that caught my attention. Please note these photos aren't inclusive of all my findings. You can find the other great works of art on my Instagram account.

My goal is to get back to Las Vegas as soon as possible. I need to fly like a bird again, and I hear the warm weather calling my name. Also, Justkids posted some impressive new murals that I need to see in person. So, let's goooo!
