My second trip to Vegas bowled me over. I was ecstatic to be back, and nothing beats wearing shorts in February. I started the long weekend with a one-night stay at the
Downtowner Boutique Hotel. This hotel is in a prime location, a few blocks from the Fremont Street Experience and
Container Park. The hotel offers a bar and a cute mini-golf/seating area in the middle of the complex. The staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable, and I will stay here again.
I skipped Fremont Street this time and spent the evening at Container Park after dining at
Bangkok Street Thai Kitchen. I was so hungry that I didn't take any photos, but I recommend this restaurant! I enjoyed some wine while listening to the DJ perform, but the best part was being mesmerized by the Mantis. I liken this experience to something you would see at Burning Man, even though I have never been.
Keep your head on a swivel in the downtown area because there are murals everywhere, and this is just a teaser. Be sure to include the quirky, colorful
dT-Alley. The alley contains pop-ups, including a piano (see the last photo).
I stayed at Bluegreen Club 36 for the last two nights, a property of my parents' timeshare. I downloaded the
RTC app to use public transportation, and it got me where I needed to go. I spent most of my weekend strolling the fabulous
Arts District, drooling over the murals and beer.

The Arts District is overflowing with breweries. They are close to one another, so I searched for murals in between. Let's start with the most colorful patio at
Voodoo Brewing Company. I had a tasty Belgian Tripel and adored all the fun mannequins!
I really indulged at the next venue,
CraftHaus Brewery. I couldn't resist getting a "Comrade" flight, which I took my time finishing given the high ABV.
Fortunately, there is a fantastic vegan taco restaurant nearby. I highly recommend
Tacotarian, even if you aren't vegan. Their tacos are so good I ate there twice. I had a Barbacoa, Chorizo (my fave), and breakfast potatoes.
Able Baker Brewing was hopping during my first attempt, so I decided to try again the following day. I arrived shortly after they opened and snagged the last stool outside. The patio is on trendy Main Street, so plan for good people-watching. I drank two yummy beers: Impale'd Ale (Imperial Brown Ale) and Double Barrel Honey Dip (Imperial Stout).
My final stop was at
Hudl Brewing. Hudl has a cool, spacious patio that also faces Main Street. I drank a unique Imperial Stout, Sweet Chai of Mine, but I can't remember the other beer.
Thanks for a fantastic time, Vegas! See you in November. To view all my findings, check me out on
