Winter strolls in Milwaukee

Image
Artist  Emma Daisy  - 622 W Wisconsin I search for murals no matter the weather, although rain makes it unpleasant. That's why I didn't give a second thought to travel to Milwaukee in the dead of winter. The first day's weather was tolerable; however, the next was bitter cold thanks to the unforgiving winds. Because of this, I had to narrow down most of my walking to downtown and Riverwest. I don't drive, so I decided it was best to save Bayview for another time. Let's begin with the downtown area, which continues to flourish in public art. The area is walkable, and the art is easy to find. Downtown Milwaukee becomes more colorful and impressive with every visit. I'm also happy to have made a Milwaukee connection recently. Murals of MKE  was helpful in my recent quest for street art. Vegas isn't just for gamblers

Art by FAFI My 2019 trip to Las Vegas was the last time I traveled on a plane before COVID took over our lives. The reason I ended up in Vegas is that my parents have a timeshare with Bluegreen Vacations, and one of the properties is in Vegas. It was also my birthday weekend, so how could I resist the generous offer of a free room. I stayed at  Bluegreen Club 36 , which is a beautiful resort right off the Strip. My one-bedroom villa was spacious, with all the bells and whistles.  I had no desire to gamble. Okay, that's a tiny white lie. I did give a few coins to the slot machines at the airport. Does that count? But, the only time I entered a casino was to use the restroom. The street art, weather, and breweries were all I needed for an excellent getaway. Oh yeah, and hanging with Pennywise at Fremont Street Experience on my actual birthday. Welcomed with open arms I follow  Justkids  on Instagram, and their posts had me giddy before I landed. Blog Introduction

I caught on to photographing street art during my middle-age life after moving to Chicago.  Some people don't understand the obsession, but it has become my favorite hobby. I believe one of the reasons is due to being hearing-impaired. I tend to focus on visuals, especially when they involve brightly colored walls. I also love the "chase" aspect leading up to it. It's extra special when I find other murals along the way. I think it's a great pastime for people of all ages, especially if you like photography.  Look at photojournalist  Martha Cooper . She's still going strong in her 70's.
